“I hate the very idea that wearing skirts makes me more of a girl than my pants do. I’m a sit-with-feet-up-and-legs-crossed kind of girl, and not feet-on-the-floor-hands-on-the-laps girl. ”

The title of my post is rather obvious, or so you think… I am not a girlie girl. I would rather wear pants than skirts. Form- fitting knee-length skirts do nothing to help my case. I hate the very idea that wearing skirts makes me more of a girl than my pants do. I’m a sit-with-feet-up-and-legs-crossed kind of girl, and not feet-on-the-floor-hands-on-the-laps girl. If I have to wear skirts, I’d rather they are loose fitting rather than form fitting. I dislike the idea of wearing form fitting clothes top to bottom. I will always choose an A-line skirt over pencil skirts. And finally, I hate the idea that some hairstyles speak more of my femininity than others. Maybe that’s why I will always prefer short hair to long hair. It’s my way of telling the world, screw you and your ideologies.
Yet, my skirt in this post is everything that I have just said I hate above. I can justify this, I assure you. This skirt has the weirdest material. Apparently the fabric is waxed, famous with our Congolese brothers. I did not know any of these until I wore it to work and a knowledge bomb was dropped on me. I bought it because I thought the fabric felt and looked like leather. Turns out, it can look and walk like a duck and still not be a duck.
I’m done rambling, enjoy the photos…
