BLACK AND BEAUTIFUL
By Liz Madowo on June 3, 2014
Hey people? Wassup?
Hope you all had a good weekend and a good Madaraka day. And now it’s back to the grind after a 3 day weekend. Plus, the weekend is only 4 days away 🙂
My title post is black and beautiful. And no, I am not about to blow my own trumpet. I am not thaaaat vain. There is a story and here it is… On Friday I was hanging out with 4 of my girlfriends at a restaurant and this woman comes up to us,and this is what she had to say. “Hi, my name is Shelley and I am from America. I just wanted to tell you guys that you are so beautiful. I grew up in America at a time when being black was not a good thing. You were beaten if you were black…” I cannot remember the rest but basically the message is home. This beautiful black woman just came up to us, 5 girls who she did not know and told us we were beautiful. That was deep you guys. You should have seen us right after, we were all so amazed and literally had to take a minute just to absorb that. Oh, she said she was 51 and she does not look a day past 30.
Since this is still a style blog, and not a writing blog, I am gonna end there. The outfit…I wore it to church on Sunday.
