Hey good people? How are you?
I’m baaaack….did you miss me over here? I missed you guys, and blogging in general. My last post was in September, eeek, and if it wasn’t for one of my friends, it would have taken even longer to come back. The moral of this very short story is, find you some people who believe in you and your dreams and keep them close.
But I’m back now, and trying out something new for the blog, this post being the first of its kind. I don’t want o disclose what it is, after about 4 posts it will be clear what I am doing so please keep coming back, and reading, sharing and commenting on my posts. I promise they’ll be more regular, and helpful.
Alsooo…*drum rolls please* I got nominated for a BAKE Award . I got the mail yesterday night just as I was about to go to bed, and to say I was surprised would be an understatement. Not because I don’t think am a great blogger, but because it’s been so long since I blogged and I didn’t even submit my blog. Forgive me if I was taken aback that not only did someone submit my blog, but that it got nominated in the Best Fashion Blog Category.
So, let’s bring this home, shall we? Y’all have rode me through all my hiatuses, and they’ve been many. This nomination would not even have been possible without you guys, who read and share and comment on my blog. Thank you so much. Please vote for me here.
I know, I know..I am finally getting to the post. For this post, I am showing you how to style this long jacket from Shiyenze in 3 different ways.
Look 1: Casual with Jeans and Sneakers
This jacket is what you call a statement piece, and to dress it casually, everything else has to be very muted and minimal. Nothing says minimal quite like a white tee, blue denim and sneakers. I threw on some gold accents because every so often, I enjoy being matchy matchy, and it complemented the orange in the jacket.
I love a good white tee because not only is it unassuming, but it works as a great blank canvas on which one can pile on other statement and simple pieces. Trust me, you can never go wrong with a white tee.
2. Dressy, Worn as a Dress
The beauty of long jacket is that if it can go all the way around your body, then you can definitely wear it as a dress. All you need is a belt to firmly tie it in place, while helping you avoid any wardrobe mishaps like accidentally flashing people. (If you want to completely avoid above mentioned mishap, just wear a black pair of short shorts underneath).
I have never met a chunky ankle boot I didn’t like, ergo these. Paired against the monotony of the brown and gold accessories, they inject a little more je ne sais quoi into the look.
3. Matchy Matchy, Thrown Over
If you follow me on any social media, @lizmadowo, then you probably already saw this look. I wore it for Fashion High Tea, and it was perfect for completing my pastel pink look, while keeping me warm. As you can see from my shoes, it rained heavily on the day and I am not one to freeze in the name of fashion.
Which of the three is more your speed? Tell me below and don’t forget to vote for me in the BAKE Awards, then tell your friend, and your mom, and your grandmother to vote as well.
